When I was child I dreamed of being Bulgarian as Nadia Comaneci (who is Romanian, by the way). Geography was never my strong point, but anyway my dream moved me to ask my parents to buy me a Soviet-style black maillot, and afterwards I started dance lessons. I finished Classical Ballet studies at 17, and at 21 I was dancing La Bayadère (choreographed by Rudolf Nureyev, who was as Soviet influenced as my childhood’s black maillot).
Apart from Classical Ballet, I also studied Movement Observation at ‘Laban Center for Actors and Dancers’ (London, United Kingdom ) and at Folkang Hochschule in Essen (Wuppertal, Germany) directed by Pina Bauch. From one ballet company to another, always being part of the corps of ballet I always dreamt of being a soloist dancer. And then, one day, in a casting mistake, Els Comediants theatre company included me in their clowns group, instead of in the dancers one. That changed my life… I become Martademarte.
